Tel Aviv: Israel has warned that Iran's new Supreme Leader will also be eliminated like Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued this warning on Wednesday. He said that any new leader appointed in Iran who advances plans to destroy Israel will be directly targeted. He said that it does not matter what his name is or where he is hiding. It is noteworthy that there are reports that Khamenei's son, Mojtaba, will become Iran's new Supreme Leader.
"We will continue to work with all our might to crush the regime's capabilities, working together with our American allies. We will create the conditions for the Iranian people to overthrow and replace this regime," Israel Katz said in a statement.
This statement comes at a time when military confrontation and tensions between Israel and Iran are at their peak in the region. Some media reports claimed that the Assembly of Experts had chosen Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the late Ali Khamenei, as the new Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic.
The joint assault by the US and Israel on Iran has entered its fifth day. Meanwhile, explosions were heard in Tehran on Wednesday. Iranian state TV reported that explosions occurred around Tehran in the morning. Israel said it had to activate its air defenses due to missiles fired by Iran. US President Donald Trump indicated that the war could continue for several weeks or even longer. Nearly 800 people have been killed in Iran so far, including some whom Trump considered potential future leaders of Iran.
A day earlier, Israel carried out airstrikes on Iranian missile launch sites and a nuclear research center. In response, Iran targeted US embassies in Israel and elsewhere, disrupting energy supplies and travel.
Drone attacks were carried out on the US embassy in Saudi Arabia and the US consulate in the United Arab Emirates. Iran fired dozens of ballistic missiles at Israel, although most were intercepted mid-air. Eleven people have been killed in Israel since the conflict began.
