International News: The European Commission is set to present a major military plan for a potential war against Russia in November. The plan aims to help European countries rapidly move heavy weapons and military equipment from one place to another. This includes preparing tanks, artillery, armored vehicles, fighter jets, and warships for immediate deployment.

The plan aims to enable NATO and European Union (EU) forces to respond swiftly if Russia attacks another European country outside Ukraine. To this end, the European Commission plans to strengthen domestic transport infrastructure—road, rail, and ports—and simplify customs procedures across borders. This will allow tanks and heavy artillery to reach the battlefield more quickly.

Why was there a need to plan?

The plan is being developed in collaboration with NATO. Concerns have grown in Europe over Russia's military activities and aggressive stance in recent years. Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, European countries have taken this step to enhance their security and counter potential threats.

Under the European Commission's plan, tanks and armored vehicles will be deployed on land, fighter jets will be on standby in the air, and warships will be deployed at sea. The aim is to ensure that European forces can respond quickly to any Russian attack.

How will action be taken on the plan?

In peacetime, military movements are painfully slow, with paperwork. Permits, regulations, and various procedures slow everything down. In war, this paperwork is removed, but the real problem is who should properly control the movements.

The entire military movement plan in Europe is developed by the JSEC (Joint Support and Enabling Command). Headquartered in Ulm, Germany, the JSEC monitors the routes for troops and weapons, where blockages or obstructions may occur, and what to do in case of an emergency.

It monitors strategic routes in Europe, connecting countries such as the Netherlands to Poland and Greece to Romania. The JSEC prepares to support the military in times of war or crisis, ensuring that tanks, fighter jets, and weapons reach the right place at the right time.
