International News:There was a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping for about an hour. The meeting has taken place at a time when many countries of the world are facing the tariff of US President Donald Trump. Trump has imposed a 50 percent tariff on India.
Taihe Institute's senior fellow Einar Tangan said that Trump wanted to bring India under pressure, but it is not appropriate to underestimate a country with an important economy and labor force like India. He also said that this meeting was not limited to India and China but also for many countries that are facing the tariff of Trump.
According to Ainar Tangan, Trump has imposed tariffs on 180 countries worldwide. Currently, India has the opportunity to face it and strengthen its role. India has been a balanced power in both SCO and BRICS forums. Tangan said that the US is cautious with the move because it wants to suppress New Delhi. If India leads the non-aligned world, the US strategy may be affected.
Tangan said that Washington is afraid of the move because if India leads the non-aligned world, the "colonial sports" of the US will fail. He said, "You can impose tariffs as much as you want, but it should be the same for all countries. India cannot be raised against anyone."
Tangan also described Modi's leadership as important. He said that this is an opportunity for India to stand up and show its role on the global stage. This is why America is cautious of India's boom and activeness.
The US has imposed a 50 percent tariff on India. This step was taken when India refused to stop oil imports from Russia. According to reports, Turkey's relationship with Pakistan may also be associated with tension with Pakistan, and India refuses to recognize Trump as a peacemaker.
