Washington: According to the New York Post report, the person who opened fire at the Secret Service checkpoint outside the White House was Nasir Best. This 21-year-old boy was already on the radar of the agencies.

What was the reason for the attack?

The motive is not completely clear yet, but reports suggest that Best was mentally disturbed. Secret Service personnel had caught him several times before, hovering near the entry gate. Investigation revealed that he considered himself the new incarnation of Jesus Christ. It seems that he attacked because his mental condition was not good.

Why was it not stopped earlier?

There was even a court order on this that BEST would not be flown near the White House. But he broke the order. On May 24, Indian time, the Secret Service spotted him on 17th Street Northwest. He was doing strange things. Suddenly he took out a gun and started firing.

How much damage was caused?

At least one passerby was injured by Best's bullet. He has suffered serious injuries. But the Secret Service personnel immediately took charge. Best was injured in retaliatory firing. He was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

What did the FBI say?

FBI Director Kash Patel wrote on X that the FBI is on the scene and assisting the Secret Service. Patel said, "We are investigating the matter. As information comes to light, we will keep updating the public." At present, an investigation is going on from where BEST got the weapon and how he broke the security cordon and reached so close. Security outside the White House has now been tightened.
