Nepal Flood Tragedy: 23 Bodies Found in One House, 4,000 People Missing; Death Toll Rises to 962

Kathmandu: Many days have passed since the devastating flood in Nepal, but the scene of devastation still remains horrifying. The search operation for missing people continues amid floods and debris. According to relief and rescue agencies, bodies of about 962 people have been recovered so far, while about 4,000 people are still reported missing. There was a stir in the area in Nuwakot district after 23 bodies were found from a single house during rescue on Tuesday.

23 bodies were recovered from a single house during relief and rescue operations in Trishuli area of Nuwakot district. Apart from this, the effect of Nepal's floods is also visible in the rivers of India. Information about 23 dead bodies being found in the Gandak river flowing across the Indian border has come to light. Indian agencies are now preparing to hand over these bodies to Nepali authorities.

The death toll due to floods in Nepal is increasing every day. Thousands of people are still missing several days after the disaster. According to officials, around 350 students are reported missing in Uttargaya village of Rasuwa district alone.

After the flood, roads and link roads have been destroyed in many areas, due to which relief and rescue operations are facing difficulties.

Floods and landslides have also affected the Trishuli-3A Hydropower Project. About 40 to 42 engineers in the project were trapped during the disaster. Even relief and rescue operations could not be started here in the initial days.

Still 118 people are said to be trapped in Trishuli-3A Hydropower Project. These include laborers along with engineers and other officials. It has come to light that no contact has been made with these people so far.

Is there danger of epidemic looming in flood affected areas?

After the devastation caused by floods in Nepal, the risk of epidemic spreading in the affected areas has also increased. About seven days after the disaster, foul smell started coming from dead bodies in many areas. The bodies of people buried in debris and swamps have started rotting, due to which the risk of infection is increasing.

In such a situation, relief agencies are facing two big challenges simultaneously. First, to search for the people buried under the debris and missing and second, to prevent the spread of infection and epidemic in the affected areas.

The effect of floods in Nepal is also being seen on the rivers flowing in India. Indian agencies are in touch with the Nepali administration after 23 bodies were found in the Gandak river. Officials of both countries are engaged in the process of identifying the dead bodies and returning them to the respective families.

At present, relief and rescue operations are going on continuously in Nepal, but the situation remains very serious due to a large number of people missing and difficulties in reaching remote areas.
