FIR filed against former Nepal PM KP Sharma Oli, action taken after Sushila Karki became interim PM

After massive Gen-Z protests shook Nepal, former PM KP Sharma Oli and several leaders fled abroad. On Friday, Sushila Karki took oath as interim Prime Minister, and by Saturday, an FIR was filed against ex-PM Oli, escalating Nepal’s political turmoil.

Nepal News: The Gen-Z protest started on 8 September in Nepal demanding a ban on social media and accusing the government of corruption. After which this protest turned violent. So far about 50 people have died during the protest. Angry protesters captured the Nepal Parliament and set it on fire. After the protest, many leaders including the then PM KP Sharma Oli left the country. On Friday, Sushila Karki took oath as the interim PM in Nepal. After which an FIR was registered against former Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Saturday.

Sushila Karki took oath as interim PM on Friday

There was massive violence during the Gen-Z protests in Nepal. About 50 people were killed and hundreds were injured in the violence. After the violence, on Friday night, 73-year-old Sushila Karki, former Chief Justice of Nepal, took oath as the first female interim Prime Minister of Nepal.

Till now, the demand of the Gen-Z group in the protest was that they want a young leader, that is, a Gen-Z leader of the Gen-Z generation. But for the better future of the country and guidance to GenZ, a better experience was needed, after which it was decided to make Sushila Karki the interim PM.

Cabinet expansion may happen on Sunday

After becoming the Prime Minister, Sushila Karki reached the Civil Hospital on Saturday. It is expected that she can meet the people injured in the protest there. Apart from this, after she became the PM, an FIR has been registered against the police repression of former Nepal PM KP Sharma Oli. An FIR has been registered demanding an investigation against former PM Oli on charges of crime.

It is being told that the cabinet expansion of Karki's government may take place on Sunday. For this, the interim Prime Minister is discussing with political advisors about the cabinet expansion. It is being told that a decision may be taken by Sunday on the names to be included in the cabinet.
