PM Modi Speech: In a public meeting held in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on the countrymen to take a pledge of self-reliance. He explained who India's real enemy is. He said that India does not have any major enemy outside, but rather its real enemy is its dependence on other countries. PM Modi clarified that until India becomes self-reliant, both national pride and future will be in danger. He said, "The greater the foreign dependence, the greater the failure of the nation."
PM Modi's statement comes at a time when new US policies have raised concerns in India. President Donald Trump recently made a major change to H-1B visa regulations. He signed a proposal to impose a $100,000 fee on the visa, effective September 21st. Since 71% of H-1B visa holders are Indians, India will be the most affected. Furthermore, the 50% tariff imposed by the US on Indian imports has not provided any relief to industries.
In his speech, PM Modi said that the future of 1.4 billion citizens cannot be left to the mercy of others. Remaining dependent on imports will damage our self-respect and jeopardize the future of future generations. He emphasized that "there is only one cure for a hundred problems, and that is a self-reliant India."
The Prime Minister clarified that self-reliance is not just a matter of economic strength, but is linked to a nation's honor and global recognition. He appealed to the public to unite and defeat this enemy of dependence and build India into a strong and self-reliant nation.
