Tehran: Russia is taking revenge on the US for the Ukraine war in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. It is sharing the precise locations of US warships with Iran. This allows Iranian armed forces to launch precise attacks on US warships. However, US warships are repelling Iranian attacks using their own weapons and equipment. The US also did something similar during the Ukraine war, resulting in heavy losses for the Russian Navy. Iran has a long-standing friendship with Russia, which is why the two countries are sharing military intelligence.
According to a report in The Washington Post, three US intelligence officials said that Russia has shared information about the locations of US warships, aircraft, and other military assets since the war began on Saturday. Given the sensitivity of the matter, the officials shared this information on condition of anonymity. This raises concerns that Russia may also be indirectly involved in the conflict on Iran's side, increasing the risk of the conflict spreading rapidly throughout the region.
Military experts believe that intelligence sharing is evident in the accuracy of some Iranian attacks on US-linked targets. They say that since the fighting began, Iran has launched thousands of attack drones and hundreds of missiles against US military bases, embassies, and other targets in the region. On Sunday, one such Iranian attack killed six US soldiers and injured several others in Kuwait. The attack was so precise that US troops received no warning.
US officials stated that the extent of Russia's targeting support is unclear, but that Iran's ability to track US warships was diminished in the early days of the war. However, this capability is now being significantly enhanced. Iran has demonstrated this capability with several precision strikes, including one that struck a US supply vessel.
