Amidst the ongoing conflict between America and Iran, big news has come to light regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has said that the framework for an agreement with Oman regarding this important sea route has been prepared. However, the terms of the final agreement are yet to be decided and the date for complete opening of Hormuz is also not clear.

If the agreement between the two parties is finalised and the movement of commercial ships becomes normal, it may also impact the global energy market. Has an agreement been reached between Iran and Oman?

Tehran: According to Iranian officials, a framework of understanding has been prepared between Iran and Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Hassan Ghashghavi, an official associated with the National Security Committee of the Iranian Parliament, said that the general framework of the agreement has been decided. However, final terms and other details are yet to be announced.

According to reports, the final decision has to be taken at the highest levels of Iran. Therefore, at this time, it cannot be considered as a final agreement or an official announcement of the complete opening of Hormuz.

When will the Strait of Hormuz be fully opened?

The biggest question is when will the normal movement of ships start after the agreement. Iran has indicated that the decision to fully open Hormuz will also depend on US activities and issues related to the maritime blockade.

At the same time, a US official told Reuters that there has been progress in talks between Iran and Oman and an agreement is expected soon. America says that if the movement of commercial ships is restored without any hindrance and Iran fulfils its commitments, then America can take steps towards lifting the blockade of Iranian ports.
