Trump claims India will buy oil from Venezuela instead of Iran: 'We've already made that deal'

Washington: US President Donald Trump on Sunday claimed that India will buy oil from Venezuela, instead of purchasing crude from Iran.

What did Trump say?

While talking to reporters aboard Air Force One en route to Florida, Trump said that a deal has been made with India regarding buying oil from Venezuela and opposing Iran.

Trump said, "We have already made a deal. India is coming in, and they are going to be buying Venezuelan oil as opposed to buying it from Iran. So, we have already made the concept of the deal."

Speaking about deal with China, the US president said that they are welcome to make a similar deal with the Washington to buy oil from Venezuela.

"China is welcome to come in and make a great deal on oil...," Trump said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 30, spoke with acting President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties.

During their conversation, the two leaders agreed to deepen and broaden bilateral cooperation, pushing India-Venezuela relations to "new heights" in the years ahead..

Taking to X, PM Modi wrote, "Spoke with Acting President of Venezuela, Ms. Delcy Rodríguez. We agreed to further deepen and expand our bilateral partnership in all areas, with a shared vision of taking India-Venezuela relations to new heights in the years ahead."
