Washington/Honolulu: Batarti Gabbard, brother of former US National Intelligence Director (DNI) and former MP Tulsi Gabbard, is in legal trouble. In Honolulu, Hawaii, he has been accused of trying to lure some children to a hotel room by luring them with money and chewing gum. After receiving the complaint, the police took him into custody and registered a case. After the incident came to light, the investigation into the entire matter has been intensified, while the family has said that it should be linked to his mental condition.
According to the information, this incident happened in a hotel in Waikiki area, where many children were present near the swimming pool. It is alleged that Batarti Gabbard started talking to the children, asked their names and kept writing them in his notebook. After some time, he told the children that if they went to his hotel room, they would be given money and chewing gum. The children did not listen to them and a woman present there considered the entire incident suspicious and immediately informed the police. The investigation started on the basis of this complaint.
After receiving the information, Honolulu Police reached the spot and interrogated the people present on the hotel premises. After collecting CCTV footage and statements of eyewitnesses, police took Batarti Gabbard into custody. Officials have registered a case against them under sections related to attempting to take away children by luring them. At present, the police are also trying to find out what their intention was behind the incident and whether any other such complaint had come forward earlier also.
After the matter came to light, the Gabbard family said that Batarti has been going through mental health problems for some time. According to the family, his mental condition had deteriorated in recent times and he was also kept under medical observation. It was said that his psychological examination has also been done. However, the police say that the investigation will continue as per the legal process and all the facts will be investigated.
After the arrest of Batarti Gabbard, discussion about this matter has started in political circles also because her sister Tulsi Gabbard has been a popular face of American politics. She had not made any public comment on this matter. No official response was issued by her office either.
At present the case is in the initial stage of investigation and it is yet to be heard in the court. Police are examining the CCTV footage of the hotel, statements of witnesses and other available evidence. If the investigation confirms the allegations, further legal action will be taken against Batari Gabbard under the laws of the State of Hawaii. On the other hand, the investigating agencies can also review the necessary documents and medical records on the mental health aspect raised by the family.
