UAE President to visit India on Monday, will sign major deal with PM Narendra Modi

New Delhi: At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, will pay an official visit to India on Monday (January 19). This will be his third official visit to India since assuming the presidency of the UAE and his fifth visit to the country in the last decade. This information was provided by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.

What did the Ministry of External Affairs say?

The Ministry of External Affairs stated that India and the UAE share cordial, close, and multifaceted relations, based on strong political, cultural, and economic ties. These relations, supported by the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), the Local Currency Settlement (LCS) system, and the Bilateral Investment Treaty, make both countries among each other's top trading and investment partners.

India and the UAE also have a robust energy partnership, including long-term energy supply arrangements. This visit will provide both leaders with an opportunity to set new dimensions for the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. It will also facilitate the exchange of views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, where India and the UAE share a high degree of convergence.

Will India and the UAE strike a major deal?

Amidst tensions with the US, India has high hopes from several countries. Now, what kind of deal will be struck after the arrival of UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will only be known after an official announcement. However, based on information received from the Ministry of External Affairs, a major agreement in the energy sector is possible.
