Video: US fighter jet F-15 crashes in Kuwait; pilot ejects safely

Kuwait: Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, a US Air Force F-15 Strike Eagle fighter jet has crashed in Kuwait on Monday. According to reports, the pilot successfully ejected from the aircraft.

Where did the crash happen?

In the videos that are circulating online, an F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet from the US Air Force crashed in western Kuwait on Monday.

The pilot managed to eject safely before the crash, according to the initial reports.

The incident which took place amid ongoing military operations in the Middle East, may relate to escalating tensions with Iran.

Local witnesses near Ali Al-Salem Air Base reported seeing a trail of smoke before the aircraft went down in the desert.

In the video circulating on social media, the aircraft can be seen rapidly descending before impact, followed by smoke rising from the crash site. 

In the other clip, the pilot, who appeared to have minor injuries, can be seen helped by local Kuwaiti civilians. The civilians can be seen helping the pilot in the trunk of a vehicle while contacting medical services.

Emergency response teams were quickly deployed to the crash site to secure the area and assist the pilot. While official statements regarding the pilot’s condition remain limited, early indications only suggest the pilot survived the incident.

Is the crash related to military escalation?

The jet crash happens at a time of increased military tensions, including recent US and Israeli military actions against Iran, which have led to retaliatory attacks by Iran on US bases in the Gulf region, including in Kuwait. 

Several reported drone and missile incidents have targeted military bases and infrastructure in Kuwait.
