Tehran: US and Israeli forces have increased the pace of air strikes in the capital and its surrounding areas. According to reports, multiple targets were attacked simultaneously, in which apart from military facilities, important infrastructure was also targeted. The news of death of civilians in the attack on a major bridge has made the whole matter more serious.
According to local sources and witnesses, American and Israeli warplanes carried out near-simultaneous strikes in Tehran and several surrounding areas. Apart from military bases, power facilities and other important structures were also affected in these attacks, due to which some parts of the city were covered in darkness and clouds of smoke were seen rising.
According to Iranian officials, at least eight people were killed and about 95 were injured in the attack on the B1 bridge in the city of Karaj in Alborz province, west of Tehran. The bridge was believed to be the tallest bridge in the Middle East and was recently inaugurated or nearing completion. Many civilians were present there at the time of the attack.
Iran has strongly condemned this attack. Several officials, including Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi, described it as a 'horrible crime' and said it was an attack on civilian infrastructure, which is a clear violation of international humanitarian law. He said such attacks cannot force Iranians to surrender but rather expose the enemy's moral defeat. Every bridge and building will be rebuilt stronger than before.
While sharing the video of the collapse of the bridge on social media, he wrote that “Iran's largest bridge will never be used again”. He clearly warned that “much more is to come” and told Iran to “make a deal or it will be too late”. Trump called this attack a necessary step and tried to put pressure on Iran.
There is a sudden change being seen at the highest levels of the US military amid the war. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George to retire immediately. The Pentagon has confirmed this, but no clear reason was given for this sudden decision. This change has happened during an active war, raising many questions.
