Tehran: The atmosphere in West Asia has become heated again. America and Saudi Arabia have jointly attacked the bases of Iran-backed armed groups in Iraq. US Central Command CENTCOM says that this action is a response to the drone attacks on US and Saudi targets in the last few days. Whereas Iran has distanced itself from this entire matter. It has said that he has nothing to do with these attacks. Due to this, diplomatic tension in the area has increased further.

Why did the attack happen?

According to CENTCOM, there were more than 30 drone attacks on American and Saudi military bases in the last 72 hours. In response, US and Saudi fighter planes carried out precise air strikes at many places in eastern Iraq. American officials claim that the targets were where weapons were kept, logistics work was done and drones were flown. America alleges that groups associated with IRGC i.e. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard are behind all this.

What did Saudi say?

The Saudi defence ministry admitted that drones were sent to oil and other important targets in their eastern region. But Saudi air defence shot down all the drones in the air. There is no news of any major damage. The Saudi government called it a big threat to the peace of the region and strongly condemned the attack.

Explosion in PMF headquarters in Iraq?

Meanwhile, an explosion occurred in a headquarters of Popular Mobilisation Forces PMF in Basra province of Iraq. According to security sources, security has been increased there after the blast. It is not yet clear how much damage was caused and how many people were injured. PMF is considered to be a coalition of several armed organisations supported by Iran in Iraq.

What did Iran say?

Iran said, 'We have no involvement in this.' Iran clearly refused to be involved in the drone attacks on Saudi Arabia. A senior military official said on state channel IRIB that Iran had no connection with these incidents. He said that it is wrong to link any attack that occurs in the area with Iran. This creates difficulty in understanding the real picture.

Is a big war near?

From this latest incident it seems that now the matter is not limited to America and Iran only. Saudi Arabia has also directly entered the field and action has intensified in Iraq. Experts believe that if such attacks continue from both sides, instability will increase in the entire region. Along with security, it will also impact oil supply and world diplomacy. At present, all eyes are on what further steps will be taken.
