Venezuela: In a shocking development, at least six large explosions were heard in Capital Caracas amid heightened tensions with US. Explosions and smoke were reported across Venezuela’s capital Caracas, with power outages near a key military base and reports of low-flying aircraft amid spiralling tensions with the US, as per the reports.
As per the reports, the reason and accurate locations of the disturbances were not immediately clear. Several videos surfaced on the social media platforms that showed multiple explosions across Caracas, a per Reuters.
According to the reports by Reuters, the US President Donald Trump has many times promised land operations in Venezuela. The US President has not just publicly elaborated his aims but has also pressured President Nicolas Maduro to flee the nation, as per Reuters. The report also stated that Trump on Monday said it would be "smart" for Maduro to leave power.
It is to be noted here that Spain has offered to mediate for 'peaceful solution' in Venezuela. In a statement issued by the foreign ministry, "Spain calls for de-escalation and restraint," adding that "in this regard ... it is prepared to offer its good offices to achieve a peaceful, negotiated solution to the current crisis".
In his statement on Venezuela-US conflict, Belgium's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Maxime Prevot in is X post wrote, "Our embassy in Bogotá, which is responsible for Venezuela, and our services in Brussels are fully mobilized. The situation is being closely monitored, in coordination with our European partners."
