Caracas: Two powerful earthquakes on Wednesday have shaken the entire north-central Venezuel. Interim President Delcy Rodriguez has declared a nationwide state of emergency after the massive earthquakes that caused widespread damage. About 32 people are dead and 700 are injured after the earthquake, officials said.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the first tremor, measuring 7.2, struck about 160 kilometres (100 miles) west of Caracas on Wednesday, followed just 39 seconds later by a second, more powerful 7.5-magnitude quake. The epicenter is reported near Yumaré. Reports of extensive damage are emerging from several cities, including the capital, Caracas.

The powerful earthquake has caused widespread devastation in Venezuela's capital, Caracas, and the city of Moron. The death toll is estimated to be between 10,000 and 100,000.
