Ukraine: Tension has reached its peak in the Middle East, but a new claim by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is now taking international politics by storm. He has alleged that Russia shared satellite photos of American military bases to help Iran, which were used in preparation for the recent attacks. This claim has come at a time when there is already a warlike atmosphere between America and Iran and military activities are intensifying in the area.

Did Russia give Iran information about US military bases?

Zelensky has clearly said that Ukrainian intelligence agencies have concrete indications. According to him, Russia kept an eye on American bases in the Middle East and handed over important information to Iran. Speaking to NBC News, he expressed 100 percent confidence, saying, "I am sure that Russia is helping Iran. This is not just cooperation, but direct cooperation in preparing attacks."

Were satellite photos taken repeatedly before the attack?

According to Ukrainian intelligence reports, Russian satellites took pictures of Saudi Arabia's Prince Sultan Air Base on March 20, 23 and 25. The very next day, on March 26, there was an Iranian attack, in which American soldiers were injured. It is difficult to consider such precise timing as a mere coincidence. Zelensky himself called it a “clean gesture.”

Were other strategic goals also monitored?

Surveillance was not limited to just one location. On March 26, Russian satellites also captured images of Kuwait International Airport, Qatar's Al Udeid Air Base, Turkey's Incirlik Air Base and Saudi's Shaybah Oil Field. It appears that Russia had conducted a detailed survey of American and allied bases in the entire area.

Has cooperation between Russia and Iran now reached the level of intelligence?

Military and technical partnership between the two countries has been increasing for some time. If these allegations are proved then this cooperation has now extended to intelligence. Experts say that this will complicate the Middle East conflict, because Russia is now providing Iran not only with drones but also with real-time intelligence.

Has Russia denied these allegations?

Moscow has earlier also described such allegations as baseless. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the locations of US bases are public and Russia is not directly involved in the conflict. Yet claims by Ukraine and Western countries continue to indicate that Russia is playing an active role behind the scenes.

Could this revelation further instigate war?

If the allegations prove true then the reaction of America and its allied countries may be strict. This already spreading conflict can engulf many more countries. Regional tension is already at its peak, so the news of new intelligence partnership can add fuel to the fire.

Will this upset the global balance of power?

This matter is not going to be limited to the Middle East only. The increasing closeness of Russia and Iran and increasing distance with Western countries can create new equations in international politics. It will be very important to see which direction this tension takes on the diplomatic and military front in the coming days.
