Create Black Kajal at Home: Kajal, a staple in Indian beauty routines, enhances the eyes with its rich, black hue, adding depth and charm. On June 9, 2025, as natural beauty trends gain momentum, homemade kajal offers a chemical-free alternative to store-bought versions, which may irritate sensitive eyes. This simple, traditional recipe uses safe ingredients, making it ideal for adults and gentle enough for children, ensuring stunning eyes without compromising health.

Ingredients for Natural Kajal

To craft your own kajal, gather these household items: pure ghee, a small earthen lamp, a clean copper or brass plate, two bowls to support the plate, a cotton wick, and almond oil. Optionally, you can add a pinch of edible camphor for a cooling effect. These natural ingredients ensure your kajal is free from harmful chemicals like lead or parabens, commonly found in commercial products, making it safe for all ages.

Step-by-Step Preparation

Set Up the Lamp: Place a cotton wick in the earthen lamp, fill it with ghee, and light it. Position the lamp between two bowls, with the copper or brass plate balanced above to collect soot.

Collect Soot: Allow the lamp to burn for 2-3 hours, letting the flame’s soot gather on the plate’s underside. Scrape the black soot carefully into a clean, dry container.

Mix with Almond Oil: Add 2-3 drops of almond oil to the soot, mixing until smooth. For a cooling effect, blend in a pinch of edible camphor. Store in a small, airtight container.

Application: Use a clean fingertip or brush to apply the kajal along the waterline for defined, radiant eyes.

Benefits and Care Tips

Homemade kajal nourishes the eyes with almond oil’s vitamins and soothes with camphor’s cooling properties. Store it in a cool, dry place for up to a month. This DIY approach not only enhances beauty but also prioritizes safety, making it perfect for daily use or special occasions for both you and your children.
