Lakshmi Motif To Mininmal Design, All About Rashmika-Vijay's Radha-Krishna style Mehendi Ceremony

Mumbai: Newlywed couple Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda tied the knot in Udaipur on Thursday in the presence of the close friends and family and then hosted a wedding reception on March 4 in Hyderabad. In between all these things Rashmika on Tuesday shared pictures from her mehendi ceremony and there were many things that caught people's eye.

The couple on February 27 made their first public appearance as Mr and Mrs at Udaipur airport, and the post-wedding glow and smile was nothing but heartwarming.

After 'The Wedding of Virosh', the couple shared their dreamy pictures as bride and groom.

Why is the Mehendi outfit different?

Rashmika Mandanna’s mehendi look featured a stunning Lakshmi motif dupatta custom-designed by Delhi-based designer Karan Torani.

Among the many beautiful details, Rashmika’s mehendi look stood out for its cultural depth and artistic craftsmanship. 

The actress wore a vibrant ensemble by Karan Torani, known for blending heritage with modern aesthetics. However, the highlight of the entire look was her beautifully embroidered dupatta featuring a sacred Lakshmi motif, turning the outfit into more than just bridal couture.

The ensemble featured vibrant shades paired with intricate zardozi embroidery and delicate mirror work. Every detail reflected a blend of festive charm and cultural storytelling.

What was the meaning of the Lakshmi Motif?

The most striking element of Rashmika’s bridal ensemble was the embroidered depiction of Goddess Lakshmi on her dupatta. In Indian culture, Lakshmi symbolizes prosperity, wealth, and auspicious beginnings. Including this motif in bridal attire is often considered a blessing for a prosperous married life.

What was the inspiration for the outfit?

Designer Karan Torani drew inspiration from classical Tanjore painting traditions. The Lakshmi motif was embroidered within a temple-style arch, creating a devotional aesthetic that felt both royal and artistic. This design choice added a heritage-inspired visual narrative to the outfit.

In an Instagram post, designer Torani said that the outfits lent heavily from the Tanjore paintings of the South. "We turned to the artistic language of the South - Tanjore painting, with its jewel tones, temple arches and luminous gold. In these paintings, Lakshmi sits within a sacred shrine surrounded by symbols of prosperity. That became our inspiration," he wrote.

Why the dupatta become the centerpiece?

In Indian bridal fashion, the dupatta plays an important ceremonial role. It frames the bride’s face during rituals and often becomes the focal point in wedding photography. Designers frequently highlight the dupatta with symbolic motifs or detailed embroidery to make it visually impactful.

Who designed Rashmika's jewellery?

Rashmika's statement and traditional jewellery was crafted by Shree Jewellers. The actress wore an heirloom necklace, that was gifted to her by Vijay's mother, titled 'The Eternal Blossom'.

The necklace featured rose-cut diamonds and the matching earrings and bangles were designed by Shree Jewellers. 

What about Rashmika's mehendi?

Rashmika for her important day chose a  minimal mehendi but every detail had meaning. 

The mehendi included Om, Parvati, “Shiva” in Kannada, “Shakti” in Telugu, and several traditional motifs that reflected her South Indian roots, spiritual beliefs, and cultural identity.

Who styled Vijay?

Vijay also wore custom-designed by Delhi-based designerKaran Torani for his mehendi ceremony. While Rashmika looked like a goddess in the outfit, Vijay, who did not dress like a regular groom, wore a green kurta paired with an indigo veshti and a heavily embroidered jacket. A statement necklace and a regal waist belt further elevated the princely appeal of his look.

Usually where bride steals the show, Vijay showed that even grooms can make a statement.

Describing his outfit, the designer said that the temple inspired motifs were chosen to represent continuity, cultural pride, and a deep connection to heritage.
