New Delhi: Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, starts his day in a simple, disciplined way.

He wakes up early, usually around 5 am, and the very first thing he does is offer a prayer of thank, a moment of gratitude for life and strength for the work ahead. He has said this habit is inspired by his wife, Nita Ambani, and now the whole family follows it.

How does his morning unfold?

After his prayer, Ambani moves into physical wellness. He practices yoga and Surya Namaskar, followed by a light walk and meditation to calm his mind and energise his body. These early health rituals help him stay focused and resilient for a busy business day.

His breakfast remains simple and healthy. Fresh fruit, juice and traditional South Indian dishes like idli-sambhar are typical fare. He generally avoids rich, fried foods and eats home-cooked meals with his family.

What does the rest of his day look like?

By around 8 am, Ambani shifts into work mode. His mornings are usually booked with strategic meetings, reviewing business reports and planning ahead for Reliance’s diverse ventures. These sessions often involve key executives and cover performance, future projects and market trends.

Lunchtime is another family moment for Ambani whenever possible. He prefers traditional Indian meals, like rice, dal, sabzi, salad and soups and uses the break to recharge.

Afternoons typically involve deeper work on operations, including site visits, project reviews or discussions with research and development teams. Innovation and expansion planning are standard parts of this block.

Does family time matter in his schedule?

Evenings often include social engagements or meetings with partners, but Ambani tries to preserve space for family and reflection at the end of the day. He has spoken about the importance of routines, time management and discipline in achieving long-term success

Why this discipline?

Ambani credits a structured routine and steadfast work ethic for keeping him grounded, healthy and productive, even while leading one of India’s largest conglomerates.
