'India does not forget': Indian Army issues strong message ahead of Pahalgam attack anniversary

New Delhi: On April 22, 2025, Pakistan-backed terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killing 25 tourists and one local pony handler. Following the incident, India on May 7 launched 'Operation Sindoor', targeting Lashkar and Jaish terrorist hideouts in Pakistan. Now, a year later, India is once again remembering and mourning the loss of lives. Meanwhile, the Indian Army has sent a strong message.

What did the Indian Army say?

The Indian Army has issued a strong message to Pakistan. The Army said that there are certain limits that should never be crossed and also issued a stern reminder of the consequences if such a thing is done. 

A day before the anniversary of the Pahalgam attack, the Indian Army taking to X, wrote, "When boundaries of humanity are crossed, the response is decisive. Justice is Served. India Stands United."

The post was accompanied by a graphic that read: "Some boundaries should never be crossed. India does not forget."

What about the security preparedness in Kashmir?

Security has been beefed up at tourist sites across Kashmir ahead of the first anniversary of the Pahalgam, terror attack. In view of the anniversary, all security agencies have been instructed to remain vigilant, especially around tourist areas. 

What is QR code-based identification?

Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have launched a unique QR code-based identification system for all tourism service providers in Pahalgam to ensure the safety of tourists. Officials said the system will enable easy verification of genuine and registered service providers, including business establishments and outside vendors.

The initiative is being seen as a major step by the authorities to restore the confidence of visitors to the popular tourist resort in Anantnag district. "Each service provider has been thoroughly vetted by the police, registered by the authorities and given a unique QR code containing the person's personal information and other details," an official said.
