Amarnath Yatra 2026: Registration to begin on April 15; Know how to apply online, offline

Dehradun: The Amarnath Yatra 2026 is scheduled to begin on July 3 and continue till the end of August. Registration has been made mandatory to participate in the yatra. The registration process for the Amarnath Yatra 2026 will begin on April 15. Devotees can now apply online by visiting the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) website. And offline registration can be done at designated bank branches across India.

What are the eligibility and health requirements?

Certain eligibility criteria must be met to undertake the Amarnath Yatra. Devotees must be between 13 and 70 years of age and must possess a mandatory Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) that should be issued after April 8, 2026.

How to apply for Amarnath Yatra 2026?

  • Devotees can register for the pilgrimage through the official website of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB).
  • For offline registration, they can visit 550 designated bank branches in India including SBI, PNB, ICICI, Yes Bank and Axis Bank.
  • The application form and medical certificate format are available for download on the SASB portal.
  • Registration is on a 'first come, first served' basis.
  • The slots close seven days before the scheduled date of travel.

Additionally, this year's Amarnath Yatra will begin with enhanced security measures. These include RFID tracking cards for all pilgrims, accident insurance coverage of Rs 10 lakh, and enhanced accommodation facilities in Srinagar and Chandanwari. A pre-paid booking system will also be available for mules, palanquins, and porters, making the journey easier.

Is travel possible without registration?

The administration has made it clear that no devotee will be allowed to travel without valid registration. It will be mandatory for every passenger to carry permit and necessary documents.

What are the important tips for yatris?

  • Those willing to go on yatra and have registered need to collect their RFID card from designated locations. 
  • Yatris need to carry their Aadhaar details in order to collect their RFID card.
  • For the safety and security reasons, yatris need to wear their RFID tag around your neck at all times.
  • Seeing the temperature, yatris are suggested to carry sufficient woollen clothing.
  • Yatris are also required to carry an umbrella, raincoat, and waterproof shoes, due to unpredictable weather in the Yatra area.
