National News: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two new Amrit Bharat Express trains on Friday, enhancing rail connectivity between Delhi and Bihar. One train will run from New Delhi to Rajendra Nagar Terminal (Patna) and the other from Anand Vihar Terminal to Bapudham Motihari.

These new trains are being added under the Indian Railways’ initiative to connect important cities with faster and more affordable trains. The Amrit Bharat Express is specially designed for long-distance travel and offers comfortable facilities even without air conditioning.

When Will the Trains Start Running?

After the official inauguration, regular service of both trains will begin from 31st July 2025. Currently, one Amrit Bharat Express already runs between Darbhanga and Anand Vihar Terminal, and these new additions will make train travel easier for thousands of people in Bihar.

These trains are expected to reduce the pressure on existing routes and offer more travel options to general passengers, especially those who cannot afford AC fares.

What Are the Train Features?

The Amrit Bharat Express is a non-AC train built with better safety and comfort. Each train has:

  • 8 sleeper coaches
  • 11 general coaches
  • 2 luggage and guard vans
  • 1 catering coach

Passengers who travel on general tickets will be able to enjoy better seating and safety facilities. These trains are also equipped with bio-toilets and modern lighting, and their speed is higher compared to traditional mail or express trains.

Special Inaugural Trips

On the day of the flag-off (inauguration), a special run will take place.

  • The Rajendra Nagar–New Delhi train will leave Patna at 11:45 AM on Friday and reach New Delhi at 4:00 AM the next day.
  • On the return journey, it will leave New Delhi at 6:00 PM on Saturday and reach Rajendra Nagar at 11:45 AM on Sunday.

Meanwhile, on the day of the inauguration, the train from Bapudham Motihari will depart at 11:45 AM and arrive at Anand Vihar Terminal by 10:00 AM the next day. The train running between Rajendra Nagar and New Delhi will carry train numbers 22361 and 22362.

Why This Matters

The launch of these new trains is an important step toward improving rail connectivity for Bihar’s population, especially migrant workers and students who often travel to Delhi and NCR. With increased options, passengers will get relief from crowding in current trains.

These trains also support the central government’s aim to provide affordable, fast, and safe transportation for common citizens.
