New Delhi: Another big turn has come in Delhi politics. National convenor of Aam Aadmi Party and former Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter directly to Justice Swarnakanta Sharma of Delhi High Court. In the letter he clearly said that now he will neither appear in the court himself nor will he send any of his lawyers. This matter is related to Delhi Excise Policy case.

What did Kejriwal finally write in the letter?

In the letter, Kejriwal wrote without any hesitation that he had lost faith in the justice system. He says that in the current circumstances he does not see any hope of a fair trial.

Why did you decide not to go to court?

Kejriwal's argument is simple that when there is no hope of getting justice then there is no point in getting involved in that process. With this thinking, he has chosen the path of Mahatma Gandhi's Satyagraha and announced his distance from the court.

How did this controversy start?

Kejriwal has already demanded recusal from Justice Swarnakanta Sharma in this case. He had raised questions on the impartiality of the judge but the court rejected that demand outright.

What did the court say at that time?

Delhi High Court had clearly said that without any solid basis, the impartiality of any judge cannot be questioned. The court also said that it is not right to look at the judiciary through a political lens.

Will this deepen the dispute?

Experts believe that this step of Kejriwal will have an impact on both legal and political fronts. On one hand it raises questions on the judicial process, on the other hand it makes the entire matter more sensitive.

What will happen next?

Now everyone's eyes are on what stance the court takes after Kejriwal's non-appearance. However, Kejriwal has also made it clear that he reserves the right to challenge any decision of Justice Sharma in the Supreme Court. The coming days will tell in which direction this matter goes. This fight is no longer limited to just the four walls of the court, its heat will be felt from the streets to the Supreme Court.
