Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public rally in Guwahati, the capital of Assam, on Saturday. Earlier in the day, PM Modi's plane landed at the Emergency Landing Facility on the Moran Bypass in Dibrugarh. Giving details, PM Modi said that this is the first facility of its kind in Northeast India. This facility will serve as an essential asset for strategic needs and emergency response during natural disasters.
"Today, the country hasn't just got another emergency landing strip; it's also proof that the new India is preparing itself for its security. Today's India is not only strengthening its borders but also responding to the country's enemies by entering their homes. Today is the anniversary of the Pulwama attack. I pay my respects to the brave sons of Mother India who lost their lives in this attack. The entire world has witnessed the way India punished the terrorists after this terrorist attack, and some people are still trembling. You have also seen India's power in Operation Sindoor," PM Modi said.
"Today is the anniversary of the Pulwama attack. I salute the brave sons of Mother India who lost their lives in this attack. The entire world has witnessed the way India punished the terrorists after this terrorist attack. You have also witnessed this power of India in Operation Sindoor. Today, some people are trembling," PM Modi said.
Before addressing the public meeting, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Kumar Bhaskar Verma Bridge over the Brahmaputra River. Built at a cost of ₹3,030 crore, it is a six-lane road. Furthermore, this bridge is the first such extra-dosed road in the Northeast. Once completed, the hour-long journey between North Guwahati and Guwahati will be reduced to just seven minutes. In the future, similar river tourism on the Brahmaputra will be further promoted.
"Today's Congress carries on its shoulders every idea, every terrorist who thinks ill of the country. Those who dream of dismembering the country, those who raise slogans to separate the Northeast from India have become revered by the Congress." At the time of independence, the Muslim League partitioned the country. Today's Congress, having become the Muslim League-Maoist Congress, is once again engaged in dividing the country. This is the MMC, so you must be wary of the Congress," PM Modi said.
"The Congress kept Assam in turmoil, in violence, and division. Since independence, Assam has been gripped by bombs, guns, shutdowns, and curfews, and the Congress was the culprit. The BJP, NDA government, is committed to restoring peace and rapid development in Assam. Therefore, the same Assam that once reverberated with bomb blasts is now experiencing peace," he added.
"The biggest reason for the Congress's decades of misrule was its appeasement policy and vote-bank politics. The Congress always viewed Assam through the lens of votes, doing everything that promoted appeasement and blocked everything that would contribute to Assam's development. During the Congress regime, central government schemes took years to reach Assam, but the BJP always prioritized the development of Assam and the Northeast."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked whether the Congress party ever had the courage to make decisions in the national interest. He said, "At best, they can make statements, but they can do nothing. The Congress party that refuses to recognize India as a nation, that questions what Mother India is, that avoids even the name Mother India, that shows no respect for Mother India, can never do any good for India. That is why the Congress party never prioritized national security."
Taking aim at Congress, he said, "I want to know from you whether Congress ever had the courage to take decisions in the national interest? At best, they can make statements. A Congress that refuses to acknowledge India as a nation, that questions what Mother India is, that avoids even the mention of Mother India, that shows no respect for her, can never do any good to India."
"Today's Congress supports every idea, every terrorist, who thinks ill of the country. Those who dream of dismembering the country, those who raise slogans for separating the Northeast from India, have become revered by the Congress. Today's Congress supports every idea, every terrorist, who thinks ill of the country. Those who dream of breaking the country into pieces, those who raise slogans of separating the Northeast from India, have become revered by the Congress."
