Chennai: The Election Commission has announced the dates for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Elections in Tamil Nadu will be held on April 23. The results of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections will be declared on May 4. The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly comprises a total of 234 seats.
Elections for all these seats are set to take place in a single phase. It is worth noting that the tenure of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly extends until May 10. Tamil Nadu has a total of 56 million voters, comprising 27 million male voters and 28 million female voters. Additionally, there are 7,617 voters belonging to the third gender.
Addressing a press conference, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar stated that the Commission had visited the poll-bound states. He noted, "We sought suggestions from all political parties. I would like to appeal to the youth to participate enthusiastically in the voting process." Gyanesh Kumar added, "I would also like to make a special appeal to our youth and first-time voters. My dear friends, you are about to fulfill one of the most significant responsibilities of your lives."
He further stated, "You are about to exercise your democratic right—the right to vote. I urge you all to participate in this grand democratic process with full enthusiasm, and to cast your votes with pride, responsibility, and confidence. Your vote reflects your personal choice in shaping the future of your state and your nation."
