Controversy Deepens as Shankaracharya Announces Religious Parliament in Lucknow, Claims Support of Sanatan

Mathura: After the incidents that took place on the day of Mauni Amavasya in the Magh Mela of Prayagraj, the matter is no longer just religious, it has directly reached politics. Swami Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati returned after fasting for several days without taking a bath in the Ganges. His decision raised questions among both the Sant Samaj and the administration.

Shankaracharya has announced that Dharma Sansad will be called on 10–11 March, before Mahashivratri. Saints, Mahants and Acharyas from across the country will be included in this. He said that this meeting will be held in Lucknow, where further strategy will be decided. He says that now the time has come to openly discuss issues related to religion and faith.

Shankaracharya has directly given an ultimatum of 40 days to Yogi Adityanath. He alleged that beef is being supplied from the state and if the government fails to stop it, then the Sant Samaj will reach Lucknow and protest. His words were quite sharp. He said that if the government calls itself a Hindu then it will have to prove it.

What allegations were made against the administration?

Shankaracharya says that the administration tried to convince him during the Magh Mela. Proposals like showering flowers and making special arrangements were made, but he rejected them. His argument was that first an apology should be made to those sadhus against whom action was taken. Due to this disagreement, he left the fair without taking the Sangam bath.
