Three-Day Bank Strike Postponed After Talks Between IBA and Bank Unions, Know What Changed

New Delhi: There is news of great relief for bank customers. The three-day nationwide bank strike proposed from Monday has been postponed for the time being. After talks between the Indian Banks Association (IBA) and the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), the bank unions have decided to call off the strike. In such a situation, normal functioning will continue in bank branches across the country from Monday.

Bank unions had announced a nationwide strike from Monday to Wednesday regarding several demands. Among these, the demand to implement banking system five days a week was also prominent. After the meeting held between IBA and UFBU on Sunday night, it was agreed to continue further talks on some issues. After this UFBU decided to withdraw the proposed strike and protest for the time being.

According to the bank union, a meeting took place between representatives of IBA and UFBU at around 9:30 pm on Sunday night. During the talks, it was agreed to form a joint committee to consider the issue of keeping all Saturdays as bank holidays. This committee will consider different options and find a solution after discussion with the concerned parties.

It has been decided to immediately form a joint committee on the demand of keeping banks closed on all Saturdays. The committee will consider all aspects related to this issue. The issue of changes in the Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for bank officers in Scale IV and above was also discussed in the meeting. IBA will initiate talks with bank unions on this subject. It has also been said that the concerns of the unions will be put forward before the government.

Will banks be open on Monday?

After the strike is postponed, there will be normal functioning in bank branches on Monday. Customers will not have to face the potential disruption caused by the strike for depositing, withdrawing cash, depositing checks and other routine banking services.
