New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday resigned as Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), days after his election as a Member of the Rajya Sabha (MP). The senior leader was elected to the Upper House on March 16.

Who submitted Nitish's resignation?

The resignation was submitted to Council Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh at the Chief Minister's official residence. 

The Janata Dal United MLC Sanjay Gandhi arrived at the Bihar Legislative Council on Monday to formally submit Nitish Kumar's resignation letter to the secretariat.

Did Nitin Nabin also resign?

BJP National President Nitin Nabin also resigned on Monday from his position as member of both Parliament and legislative council of Bihar, following his election as the Rajya Sabha member on March 16.

Nitin Nabin had submitted his resignation to state president Sanjay Saraogi on Sunday. Sanjay will submit his resignation on Monday.

What did Nitin Nabin say after resigning?

Nitin Nabin on Monday announced his resignation on social media, saying, "After the sudden demise of my father in January 2006, the party gave me the opportunity to contest the by-election from Patna West, and on April 27, 2006, I was elected for the first time from the Patna West constituency, marking the beginning of my social and political life."

"Today, I am resigning from the elected position of member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from the Bankipur constituency. Through the new role the party has given me, I will remain committed and committed to the development of my constituency and Bihar. The unbreakable bond I have with my workers and the people of Bihar will endure forever and will continue to provide me with new energy, inspiration, and guidance. Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, I will continue to strive towards realizing the dream of a developed India and a developed Bihar by 2047," he wrote in Hindi.
