National News: In an extraordinary and shocking event from Bihar’s West Champaran district, a one-year-old toddler, Govinda, bit a cobra snake with his teeth—killing the reptile instantly. The strange episode occurred in Mujauli village under the Majhauliya police station limits. Witnesses say little Govinda was playing on the rooftop of his home when a two-foot-long cobra appeared nearby. Thinking the snake was some sort of toy, the boy grabbed it and sank his teeth into it. The cobra died on the spot, and the bite was so forceful that the snake’s body ended up split into two pieces.
Within hours of biting the snake, Govinda’s health began to decline. He became weak and semi‑conscious, prompting his family to rush him to the Majhaulia Primary Health Center (PHC). Doctors at PHC quickly referred him to Bettiah Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for advanced treatment.
According to Dr. Divakant Mishra, Deputy Superintendent of GMCH Bettiah: “We examined the boy thoroughly and found no signs of venom in his system. The cobra he bit was most likely a young snake whose venom glands weren’t active or had very little poison.” Doctors have since confirmed that Govinda is stable and out of danger.
The bizarre incident quickly spread across the village, leaving residents stunned. Many found it hard to imagine how a tiny one‑year‑old child could bite a deadly cobra and end its life. For Govinda’s family, however, the dominant feeling was relief—their little boy is safe and recovering well.
