New Delhi: A six-member delegation of China's ruling Chinese Communist Party (CPC) reached the BJP headquarters in Delhi and held a meeting with senior leaders. A major objective of the talks was to advance inter-party dialogue between the two parties. BJP General Secretary Arun Singh and the party's foreign affairs in-charge, Dr. Vijay Chauthaiwale, were present in the meeting. Chinese Ambassador Xu Feihong also accompanied the delegation. This meeting has taken place against the backdrop of a gradual softening of relations after the Galwan incident.

Why did this meeting happen?

Both sides clearly said that the focus of the talks should be mutual communication and measures to increase contacts. From the BJP side this was seen as an exchange of party leadership in the future. The CPC representative also expressed his desire to increase mutual understanding.

Who led and who was involved?

The delegation was led by Sun Haiyan, vice minister of the International Department of the CPC. Chinese Ambassador Xu Feihong also attended the meeting. From BJP's side, Arun Singh and Vijay Chauthiwale were present in the meeting.

Is a meeting with RSS also fixed?

According to sources, the delegation will also reach the RSS headquarters in Jhandewalan. There it is proposed to meet Sangh's Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale. This step assumes further significance in the backdrop of the centenary year of RSS.

Is this being said to be the first such dialogue after Galwan?

In recent years, direct communication between the parties was limited due to border tensions. Experts are seeing this as the first kind of active party-level initiative after Galwan 2020. This indicates that along with diplomacy, the parties are also opening avenues of dialogue.

Was any formal agreement reached during this meeting?

No formal deals or agreements were made public after the meeting. Both sides said it was a dialogue step. There may be more meetings in the future.

What effect will this have on India-China relations?

This step is symbolic. This suggests that a variety of channels are being opened to extend the recent softness. But real credible balance on the border will come only when there is solid military disengagement and patience between the two countries.

Has the opposition raised questions on this meeting?

Some leaders are calling it normal political contact, and critics are expressing doubts. BJP says that the talks are public and transparent.

The Delhi meeting has made it clear that the foundation of relations will not be limited to diplomacy alone. Now party-level dialogue is also emerging as a link to it. In the coming days, it will be seen to what extent this dialogue succeeds in restoring trust between the two countries.
