New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to have a major reshuffle with its national president Nitin Nabin promising to reveal a revamped team today or during this week. According to reports ,the emphasis is on succession planning of next-generation leaders in the organization, which includes having a good mix of females.
Preparations are underway to make major changes within the BJP’s organization. An announcement about reshuffling is expected to be made on Monday, as per reports. The change has been in the air for some time now since the ruling party promoted Nitin Nabin, a 46-year-old, as its youngest chief in January.
This generational change is much awaited and it could now be perceived as the answer of the BJP to the students' strike that was organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) recently. A number of senior leaders are likely to cross the aisle from the Union Cabinet with speculation growing of who they will be. The Cabinet is to undergo a change in the near future, after a revamp. As Nitin Nabin is set to announce his new team, all eyes are on former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's rsponsibility in BJP 2.0.
The reshuffle is anticipated to cover some of the key positions in the organisation, such as general secretaries and office-bearers like secretaries.
The changes are part of the preparations underway for several state elections scheduled next year, including in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. The appointments are also being seen in the backdrop of BJP's long term effort to contest the Lok Sabha polls in 2029.
The BJP has already been undergoing changes in its leadership at the state level. For example, recently, its Punjab unit appointed in-charges for all 36 organisational districts as it is gearing up for the upcoming Assembly elections in 2027.
