Bomb Threat Panic: IndiGo Flight Makes Emergency Landing In Ahmedabad After Scary Mid-Air Alert

Ahmedabad: An IndiGo flight travelleing from Kuwait to Delhi made an emergency landing at Ahmedabad airport on Friday after a hijack and bomb threat note alarmed crew and passengers.

According to an airport official, the aircraft landed safely around 6.40 am at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.

Currently, the police and aviation security are searching the aircraft.

What was written in the note?

According to airport officials, on Friday morning the crew member discovered a handwritten message on a tissue paper claiming hijack and bomb threat on board.

The note was taken seriously by airline members and airport authorities, prompting an immediate diversion to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, where security teams could check. 

The IndiGo flight, was carrying 180 passengers, including crew members on board.

What did the police say?

The passengers were evacuated on landing and the aircraft was thoroughly inspected by the security agencies.

Police and security teams in Ahmedabad are examining the note to find its origin and to check if any credible threat exists. 

The official said that each passenger is being individually screened as part of the protocol.

"So far, no suspicious object has been recovered. The flight may take off after getting a final go-ahead," an airport official said.

Has such incidents happened before?

On January 18, an IndiGo flight 6E 6650 from Delhi to Bagdogra was diverted to Lucknow airport after a bomb threat note was found on the aircraft.

On landing, the passengers were evacuated and the aircraft was thoroughly inspected by the security agencies.

In a statement, IndiGo Spokesperson had said, "A security threat was noticed onboard IndiGo flight 6E 6650 operating from Delhi to Bagdogra on 18 January 2026, due to which the aircraft was diverted to Lucknow. Following the established protocol, we informed the relevant authorities immediately and are fully cooperating with them in carrying out the necessary security checks..."
