New Delhi: Marking the 75th Constitution Day, President Droupadi Murmu released a digital version of the Constitution of India in nine languages -- Malayalam, Bodo, Nepali, Marathi, Punjabi, Kashmiri, Odia, Telugu, and Assamese on the Constitution Day event in the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan.
Notably, President Murmu also released a commemorative booklet "Bharat ke Samvidhan main Kala aur Calligraphy" on the occasion.
President Murmu also poke about the role of Parliament in curbing evil linked with triple talaq. Speaking on the occasion, she said, "... By curbing the social evil associated with triple talaq, Parliament took historic steps toward the empowerment and social justice of our sisters and daughters. The Goods and Services Tax, the biggest tax reform since independence, was implemented to promote the country's economic integration.
She continued to add, ''The repeal of Article 370 removed a barrier that had been hindering the country's overall political integration. The Nari Shakti Bandhan Act will usher in a new era of women-led development... This year, starting November 7th, a nationwide commemoration is being held to mark the completion of 150 years of the composition of our national anthem, Vande Mataram..."
It is to be noted that President Murmu graced the Constitution Day Celebrations, organised by the Supreme Court of India in New Delhi. The President said that the Constitution is the source of peaceful social, economic, and political revolution in the world's largest democracy. It is also the source of ensuring individual dignity and our national unity. She highlighted the need to make legal aid easily accessible for people at grassroots level.
Meanwhile, a parliamentary delegation from Cyprus, led by Ms Annita Demetriou, President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus, called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President said that Constitution Day is an ideal occasion to share our democratic and parliamentary experiences with a good friend and partner like Cyprus. She expressed confidence that India-Cyprus ties would continue to strengthen across all sectors of cooperation.
