National News:Chandigarh University has officially ended all its educational Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with 23 universities across Turkey and Azerbaijan. This step has been taken keeping in mind the national security and changing geopolitical situation of the country. This decision comes after the decision of Lovely Professional University (LPU), which had already ended all its educational partnerships with these two countries.

Important step taken keeping in mind national security

Chandigarh University administration said that in view of recent geopolitical developments and security, it had become necessary to terminate the 23 MoUs signed with Turkey and Azerbaijan. This step not only strengthens the policies of the university but also shows their accountability towards the security of the country.

LPU had also taken such a step

Before this decision of Chandigarh University, Lovely Professional University had also terminated all its six educational agreements with Turkey and Azerbaijan. LPU had also taken this big decision keeping in mind national security and political stability in a similar way.

Need for balance between education and security

This is a clear indication for the universities of India that they will now not only give importance to global cooperation in the field of education, but will also give priority to the security and diplomacy of the country. Ending educational cooperation with countries like Turkey and Azerbaijan is a step taken towards establishing this balance.

Universities will remain alert in future too

Chandigarh University has said that even in future, if any such situation arises which is risky for national security, then they will take appropriate steps in time. This decision reflects the changing foreign policy direction of Indian educational institutions, where security is being given equal importance as education.
