National News: A major twist has emerged in the ongoing investigation into the illegal religious conversion racket in Uttar Pradesh. The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), which is probing the case against the prime accused, Jamaluddin alias Changur, has reportedly found strong indications that he received protection and support from four state government officers. These include an Additional District Magistrate (ADM), two Circle Officers (COs), and one Inspector, all of whom were posted in Balrampur between 2019 and 2024.

Though the ATS is yet to collect concrete legal evidence, officials confirm that these names have come up repeatedly during the investigation. Once verified, arrests could follow swiftly.

ATS-STF Investigations Reveal Deep Nexus

Sources in the ATS reveal that these officers were allegedly ready to manipulate official procedures to favor Changur. Their suspected involvement has also been flagged in a confidential report by the Special Task Force (STF). Significantly, one of these inspectors was found to have a suspicious role during an earlier phase of the STF investigation.

The ATS has confirmed that these names surfaced during Changur's custodial interrogation. However, investigators are still examining whether Changur deliberately named these officers as part of a diversion tactic or whether they were genuinely complicit. Authorities stress that strict action will be taken if any direct evidence is established.

Custody Ends: Changur and Nasreen to be Sent to Jail

The custody remand of Changur and his associate Neetu, alias Nasreen, ends on Wednesday. According to ATS sources, both will be transferred to judicial custody by 6 PM. During interrogation, Nasreen reportedly made several explosive revelations, helping uncover critical aspects of Changur’s wider network.

Nasreen Reveals Rift with Changur

Insiders state that Nasreen and Changur’s relationship had deteriorated over time. During questioning, Nasreen disclosed the reason behind their fallout, stating that Changur replaced her with his son Mehboob in handling sensitive foreign funding operations, leading to growing disagreements. Disillusioned, Nasreen gradually began cooperating with investigators.

Foreign Funding and Involvement of Foreign Clerics

Nasreen further revealed that Changur targeted economically weak and backward-class individuals for religious conversion. Shockingly, he brought in foreign clerics to India who were specially trained in radical preaching, conversion techniques, and targeting specific social groups.

According to her statement, Changur’s network involved well-organized agents tasked with influencing potential converts via social media platforms, face-to-face interactions, and financial incentives. The entire operation was highly structured and appeared to be internationally funded.

Conversion 'Rate List' and Indoctrination Strategy

Earlier investigations had revealed that Changur maintained a caste-wise "rate list" for religious conversion—different fees were fixed for individuals based on their caste. In addition, a secret document was recovered that outlined detailed strategies for converting Hindu girls to Islam, pointing toward a long-term and manipulative agenda.

Changur's Illegal Empire and Insider Alerts

Just a few weeks ago, the administration demolished illegal properties linked to Changur through a bulldozer operation. However, it's now believed that he was alerted in advance, possibly by these government officers. This allowed him to rebuild his network repeatedly and even issue threats to victims, showcasing the depth of his reach.

Threats Even from Custody

In a shocking development, despite being in ATS custody, Changur allegedly continued to intimidate victims. Recently, three individuals filed formal complaints, claiming they received threats from him. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in this matter, indicating that his influence is still active even behind bars.

Will the UP Government Act?

The case involving Jamaluddin, alias Changur,, has now evolved beyond a matter of illegal conversions. It exposes the existence of a deeply rooted, internationally linked network, possibly backed by foreign funding, systemic protection, and political shielding.

This raises serious questions:

  • Will the government suspend the named officers until the investigation concludes?
  • Or will the matter be swept under the rug due to political pressure?

If the Uttar Pradesh government takes bold and transparent action, this case could serve as a watershed moment in fighting administrative corruption and protecting vulnerable communities from forced conversions. It may also restore public faith in the rule of law.
