New Delhi: Savitribai Shankar Dipke, grandmother of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke, has passed away at the age of 85. The news of her demise in her native village Santuk Pimpri in Hingoli district of Maharashtra has come at a time when Abhijeet Dipke is in the custody of Delhi Police. He had reached Delhi to join the proposed protest against the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. After the death of his grandmother, the question is now arising whether he will be able to return to his village and attend the funeral. However, no confirmed information has come to light yet regarding his release or permission to go to Maharashtra.

What is the reason for death?

According to reports, Savitribai Shankar Dipke breathed her last in her native village Santuk Pimpri. Some reports also say that she was ill for a long time. This is a difficult time for the family, as Abhijeet Dipke is in custody in Delhi amid the demise of an elderly member of the family. At present, there is no independently confirmed information available from the family regarding the time and schedule of the funeral. In such a situation, it is not clear whether Abhijeet Dipke will get a chance to reach the village or not.

Why did the police take him into custody at IGI Airport?

Abhijeet Dipke had reached Delhi from Mumbai on Saturday. According to media reports, the police took him into custody from inside the plane at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. CJP co-convenor Saurav Das and party spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka are also reported to have been detained. The purpose of the three leaders reaching Delhi was said to be to participate in the proposed demonstration at Jantar Mantar. After the police action, information about them being taken to different places also came to light. However, a detailed official police version of all the circumstances surrounding the detention was not available.

Why was the protest demanding the resignation of the CEC?

CJP had planned a demonstration demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The party is also raising questions regarding the Special Intensive Revision or SIR of the voter list. According to reports, there were plans to reach Jantar Mantar for the protest, but a dispute arose over permission for the event. In this background, there were reports of security being tightened in Delhi and leaders being detained. In this matter, questions related to the demands of the party, action of the administration and permission for demonstration are still under discussion.

Will Abhijeet Dipke be allowed to attend the funeral?

After the death of grandmother, the most important question is regarding the custody of Abhijeet Dipke and his return home. If the cremation takes place soon, their ability to reach the village will depend on the police custody status and the decision of the authorities concerned. So far, no verified statement has emerged confirming his release, permission to travel or any request made by his family. Therefore, it is too early to say whether he will be able to attend the funeral or not.

Has there been an official statement from the family and party?

At present, there are two aspects to this entire incident. On one hand, there is mourning in the family due to the demise of an elderly member, while on the other hand, the situation regarding the custody of Abhijeet Dipke is awaited. Information related to the funeral and his possible return may become clear once a detailed official statement comes from the family or party. The further picture will be revealed only after getting clear information on the current situation of custody from Delhi Police.
