Majitha Tragedy: Poisonous Liquor Claims 21 Lives, Five Amritsar Villages in Mourning

National News: A heartbreaking tragedy has come to light from Majitha region of Amritsar district of Punjab. At least 21 people have died due to allegedly drinking poisonous liquor, while 6 people are admitted to the hospital in critical condition. 10 arrested including main supplier, two FIRs registered

Amritsar SSP Maninder Singh said that the police had received information about deaths from poisonous liquor around 9:30 pm last night. The police is conducting a thorough investigation of which companies this liquor was purchased, under which name was being sold, and which people were supplied.

Amritsar Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni described the incident as an unfortunate tragedy and said that the administration immediately sent medical teams, who are still investigating from village to village. He said, "Whether a person has symptoms or not, we are taking everyone to the hospital."
