National News: For the first time ever, the Delhi Assembly will hold a trial session on a Sunday. This special session is being organized before the official Assembly session that starts on August 4. The purpose is to test the new digital setup under the e-Vidhan Sabha system and make sure everything runs smoothly during the actual session.

Although several state assemblies in India have already started using digital systems, Delhi is taking a new step by testing the entire House together. This trial session will last for about 90 minutes. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, cabinet ministers, opposition leaders, and all 70 MLAs will take part in this session.

Face Recognition Enabled iPads for All MLAs

As part of the digital upgrade, iPads have been installed at every MLA’s seat in the Assembly hall. These devices are connected to a face recognition system. This means that only the MLA assigned to a particular iPad can open and use it. This setup helps keep the data secure and personal.

The system has already been tested earlier, and now it is ready for a full trial during the Sunday session.

Speaker’s Two Big Promises Now Fulfilled

Assembly Speaker Virendra Gupta shared that this trial marks an important day for the Delhi Assembly. When he became Speaker, he had taken two main pledges: first, to digitize the entire working of the Assembly, and second, to power the Assembly using solar energy. Both of these goals are now being achieved at the same time.

Team of Experts Ready to Help

To support the smooth use of the digital system, a team of 18 tech experts has been appointed. Each expert will be responsible for helping a group of seven MLAs. These experts have already been training the MLAs for the past few days and will also be present during the trial session.

They will be stationed outside the main assembly hall and will assist MLAs quickly if any technical issue comes up. In addition, special experts have been assigned to the Chief Minister and other ministers so that their work is not affected.

Going Paperless—A Step Towards Greener and Faster Governance

Once the e-Vidhan Sabha system is in full use, the Delhi Assembly will go paperless. All documents, agendas, and updates will be shared digitally. This will save time, reduce the use of paper, and make the proceedings more transparent and efficient.

This initiative reflects a major change in the way the Delhi Assembly works. By combining traditional legislative processes with modern technology, the government aims to improve both speed and sustainability.
