New Delhi: The Delhi Assembly and Speaker Vijender Gupta on Tuesday received email threats of a bomb blast ahead of the presentation of the budget. A search of the Speaker's room is underway. The Assembly and Speaker received these threatening emails at around 7:28 am.
The emails warn of bombing the Delhi Assembly complex as well as the Vidhan Sabha Metro station. Dog squad and bomb disposal team of Delhi Police are investigating the Delhi Assembly.
According to officials, Speaker Vijender Gupta received these threatening emails at 7:49 am on Tuesday and Delhi Assembly also received same email around 7:28 am.
The email also mentions the names of LG Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa.
Following the alert, security agencies have intensified checks at the Assembly complex and the metro station. The House proceedings have been adjourned until 11:30 am for security reasons.
The email also warned of bombing the Vidhan Sabha Metro station, which prompted security teams to enhance patrolling and conduct precautionary checks around the metro premises.
