New Delhi: An explosion in a car at Red Fort Metro Gate No. 1 on Monday evening shook the capital. According to preliminary data, 12 people died and more than 20 were injured, most of them lawyers and pedestrians. The investigation has shockingly revealed that the terrorists did not assemble the IED properly, due to which the explosion was limited. Reports revealed that if the bomb had been made properly, there could have been a huge loss in the capital.

How did one suspect's panic change the game?

The blast occurred around 5 pm when the area was filled with lawyers and visitors. The car entered from Faridabad border and remained parked in the parking lot for three hours. According to the report, the blast blew the car into pieces, but no crater was formed and no shrapnel was found. Suspect Umar Nabi (Pulwama, JKA) was alone, his associates were arrested in Faridabad. The police officer said that due to the news of the raid, people changed their place due to panic and the explosion occurred inadvertently during the commute. Initial assessment by intelligence agencies: Ammonium nitrate based IED, but assembly failed—suicide attack was planned, became accidental blast.

How big is the network, what was found in the investigation?

It also came to light that thousands of kilos of material has been recovered from Faridabad, whose link with Omar is believed to be confirmed. 11 hours CCTV Data was found in which the movement of the car was tracked. Umar was collecting information about the arrests online. NIA took the case under UAPA and Explosive Act, search operation is going on in Faridabad. Home Ministry issues high alert, security checks increased in Delhi-NCR. Was this a lone wolf attack, or a bigger conspiracy? Forensic reports are awaited.

How did the terrorist's mistake limit the damage?

The IED exploded prematurely, which was not fully developed, hence the effect was also less. If police sources are to be believed, intelligence teams have confirmed that the assembly went wrong. The absence of craters and no finding of shrapnel is proof of this. Had the montage been correct, there could have been more than 50 deaths. This was the result of haste. The plan failed due to panic from the raid. Experts say that in such a case the terrorist network is exposed. Delhi blast exposed security hole. It is necessary to expose the Faridabad module. Will NIA reveal big names? The investigation is still going on. On the other hand, Delhi is on high alert.
