New Delhi: Now the link to Punjab has also been added to the investigation of the Delhi blasts. Security agencies detained Dr. Raees Ahmed Bhatt from White Medical College and Hospital in Pathankot late on Friday night. He is originally from Anantnag and works as a surgeon in the college. Initial investigation has revealed that he was in contact with Dr. Umar, the main accused in the blast.

On the other hand, UP ATS has also intensified the investigation. On Saturday, five suspects, including those close to Dr. Adil, were picked up for questioning from Shamli, Deoband, and Saharanpur.

Family under police protection

Dr. Raees has also worked at Al-Falah University, Faridabad, for a long time. In Pathankot, he lived on the college campus with his seven-year-old son and wife, Joshila Hussain. The son and wife have been given police protection at present. The college management and staff are avoiding saying anything on this matter.

Investigation of old staff

According to sources, the records of old employees and contacts of the college are also being scrutinized. Meanwhile, NIA, along with West Bengal Police, interrogated Dr. Janisar Alam, who was detained from Dalkhola, and later released him. Janisar said that he has done MBBS from Al-Falah University, Faridabad, and the doctors who were arrested were professors there; hence, he had contact with them. However, his phone and laptop have been confiscated for investigation.

Janisar's family has lived in Ludhiana for a long time, while his ancestral home is in Dalkhola. He had come there earlier this week to attend a function with his family.

Questioning the Imam of the mosque

After getting information about contact with Dr. Muzammil, Imam Imammuddin of Sirohi Masjid of Faridabad was also detained for questioning on Friday night. It was told that Muzammil often came to the mosque to offer namaz and meet the Imam. Investigative agencies are trying to find out who else he had connections with in Sirohi.

Shopkeepers were also interrogated

Two shopkeepers selling fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides from Sohna in Gurugram were also called for questioning by the Faridabad Police. Some part of the chemicals used in the case was purchased from these shops, payment for which was made online, and this payment was made from Jammu and Kashmir. After checking the mobiles and laptops of the shopkeepers, they were released, but at present the shops are sealed.
