Himachal Pradesh: While security agencies across the country are on alert after the massive blast that took place near Red Fort in Delhi on Monday, Himachal Pradesh Minister Jagat Singh Negi has raised questions on the timing of this incident. He said that why such incidents often happen only during elections is a matter to think about.
Minister Negi said, "You will see that whenever there is a major terrorist attack, then either there are elections in the country or an atmosphere of elections is being created. At the time of the Pulwama attack also, elections were near; the situation was similar at the time of the Pahalgam incident, and now when the Bihar assembly elections are going on, the Delhi blast happened."
Negi also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that it is the biggest irony of the country that whenever a major tragedy or attack occurs, the prime minister remains on a foreign tour. This statement of the minister has sparked a new debate in political circles.
Recalling the Pulwama attack of 2019, Minister Negi said that even at that time there was an election atmosphere in the country, and after the martyrdom of 40 soldiers, a big political impact was seen in the country. Similarly, referring to the Pahalgam attack that took place in April this year, he said that 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed in that incident. He said that the pattern of such attacks seems to revolve around election activities.
10 people died and 25 were injured in the Red Fort blast that took place on Monday evening. Investigation revealed that Dr. Omar Mohammad of Jammu and Kashmir was traveling in the i20 car in which the blast took place. The agencies are now trying to find out whether there is any big conspiracy or election timing-related angle behind this incident. At present, the investigation of the case has been handed over to NIA, and raids are going on in many states.
After Negi's statement, the political aspect of this attack has become more acute. The opposition is continuously demanding answers from the government as to why terrorist incidents occur again and again in the country just before elections. At the same time, the security agencies have made it clear that at present their focus is only on investigation, and the priority is to stay away from political statements.
