Whether they had any link to the car is being investigated. Mobile call records and location data are being checked thoroughly. Their movements around the scene are being verified. Further action will depend on the information gathered from them.

How the Incident Happened

The explosion occurred near the Red Fort at 6:52 PM on Monday. The blast took place in an I-20 car parked on the roadside. The sound was so loud that it was heard kilometers away. People panicked and started running in fear. Thick smoke and rising flames created chaos. Glass windows of nearby shops shattered due to the shockwave. Police and rescue teams reached the spot immediately.

Deaths and Injuries

Nine deaths have been confirmed in this blast. Nearly 20 people were injured, some of them critically. All injured persons were rushed to Lok Nayak Hospital. Doctors continued treatment throughout the night. Relatives of victims were seen crying outside the hospital. Authorities assured that there will be no shortage of medical care. The incident has left several families devastated.

UAPA Case Filed

Delhi Police did not consider this a mere accident. A case was filed under UAPA and the Explosives Act. This gives agencies stronger legal authority for investigation. Evidence is being collected from the site. CCTV footage from all nearby areas is being reviewed. No angle is being ignored. Agencies suspect it to be a planned terror operation and high-level investigation is underway.

Four Suspects in Custody

Four individuals seen around the car have been detained. Police are questioning them about the vehicle’s origin. Investigators are checking whether they are linked to any larger network. Their call history and digital activity are under scrutiny. The police are comparing their statements with technical evidence. Their role will become clearer as the inquiry progresses. Authorities expect key breakthroughs soon.

Intensity of Blast & Possible Explosive

The blast was extremely powerful, with car parts scattered up to 250 meters away. Experts believe it was not caused by ordinary fuel combustion. A high-intensity explosive is suspected. Early indicators point towards RDX or a similar material. Forensic teams have collected samples from the site. Once lab reports arrive, the exact nature of the explosive will be confirmed. The pattern indicates a planned attack.

First Major Blast in Delhi After Many Years
