New Delhi: The investigation of the Delhi Red Fort blast has exposed the 'white-collar' terror module of Jaish-e-Mohammed. The role of educated doctors and professionals is very shocking in this case. The joint team of NIA and Delhi Police came to know that the mastermind of the module, Dr. Shaheen Shahid, had woven a strong network in the country and abroad. Shaheen radicalized young Muslim doctors through social media and professional contacts. She had a direct link with a doctor of the Pakistani Army, who kept giving guidelines.
How did Dr. Shaheen's 'Doctors Network' spread?
Shaheen's network is being called 'white-collar' because it included youth with medical and tech backgrounds. They were targeting Delhi by making Saharanpur-Faridabad their base. The strategy to attack the capital has been found in digital evidence. Youth were recruited through social media chats. Shaheen was to lead the 'women's wing' of Jaish. His Pakistani contact arranged weapons and funding. J&K Police has sought a Red Corner Notice from Interpol to target absconders like Dr. Muzaffar.
What was recovered from the Faridabad raids?
Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted raids from Pulwama to Delhi. Strict action was taken against Al-Falah University (Faridabad), where 360 kg of explosives were recovered from the room of Dr. Muzammil Shakeel. During this period, 7 suspects have been arrested; these include doctors, clerics, and even businessmen. Four doctors had collected Rs 26 lakh to buy bomb material. Shaheen created a radicalization hub under Jaish-e-Mohammed's 'transnational' plan. She was planning to flee the country but was stopped by the agencies.
What next in NIA investigation—focus on the UAPA case or financial transactions?
NIA took the case under UAPA. Checking financial transactions, call details, and travel history. Action has been taken against Faridabad University, and the staff has been detained. According to NIA, Shaheen's link with the Pak Army doctor is the most dangerous. She was running the arms supply chain. Jaish-e-Mohammed's 'Operation Sindoor' was targeting Delhi-NCR. Serial blasts were planned on 26 January, but the conspiracy was foiled due to intelligence input. The 22 suspects include 12 doctors and 5 engineers, all of whom are high-profile. Shaheen raised 26 lakhs through crypto and NGO. Is this network connected to ISIS?
