National News: Rainfall lasted only a short while, yet Delhi’s streets looked like rivers. Waterlogging in Patparganj, AIIMS, Sangam Vihar, and Laxmi Nagar exposed the failure of BJP’s four-engine government. AAP leaders released videos showing flooded roads and stranded vehicles. They said this was not natural but the result of corruption.
Questions were raised on drainage, desilting, and poor planning. The opposition mocked BJP, saying even a small shower turns Delhi into a disaster zone. People are angry that essential work was ignored despite repeated warnings.
AAP convenor Saurabh Bhardwaj accused BJP of creating swimming pools instead of roads. He said Sanjay Lake and its nearby areas turned into giant ponds. Taking a sarcastic dig, he claimed BJP was “building lakes and pools” instead of improving drainage. He compared this with Manish Sisodia’s work, saying he built schools, but BJP built flood zones. Citizens were told to swim across roads, a shocking statement that went viral. AAP also said BJP leaders are busy in politics while common people are drowning in rainwater.
The rains were not just about waterlogging but also human tragedy. Walls collapsed in Basant Kunj, killing two children. Roofs caved in Nizamuddin and Mithapur, killing seven each. A child died after falling into an open sewer on Raksha Bandhan. Tree and pillar collapses also killed people. In total, over 35 lives were lost this monsoon. AAP questioned why LG, who earlier rushed to incidents during AAP’s rule, is silent now. They accused BJP of double standards in dealing with deaths and public grief.
Bhardwaj shared visuals from NH-24 showing Patparganj highways drowned. He said the “four-engine government” is running on false claims. He demanded an audit of desilting, alleging contractors took money without doing work. If BJP is honest, why avoid third-party audit? He said corruption is the main reason behind waterlogging. Delhiites feel their city is being pushed backward. Roads that should have been safe have become dangerous traps. Anger against the ruling side is now growing among residents.
Leader of Opposition Atishi shared videos of waterlogged roads in Laxmi Nagar, AIIMS, and Geeta Colony. She said BJP’s six-month-old four-engine government has drowned Delhi. She asked if this is CM Rekha Gupta’s idea of “proper management.” She accused BJP of failing in its very first test of governance. She said roads have turned into rivers, forcing people to risk lives while traveling. Many areas were left cut off due to waist-deep water. Her statement resonated widely on social media.
AAP leaders compared South Delhi to Venice after roads turned into canals. They said BJP ministers, who usually take credit for small works, are missing now. In Sangam Vihar, water reached knee level, and vehicles were stuck for hours. People were advised to carry life jackets if visiting. On MB Road, waterlogging turned it into “MB River.” Videos showed cars floating. Citizens mocked BJP online, saying Delhi is now a place where rain equals disaster.
People of Delhi say they are tired of repeated flooding. Every year the same story repeats—poor planning, corruption, and blame games. Many lost family members, while others lost property. Shops and homes in low-lying areas were destroyed. Families are shifting temporarily due to unsafe conditions. Citizens want accountability, not politics. AAP demanded BJP either fix problems or resign. The capital now looks helpless, with residents asking how many more deaths are needed before action is taken.
