Travel Alert for Delhi! DMRC Closes 17 Metro Stations Over CJP Protest; Full List Inside

New Delhi: In view of the CJP (Campaign for Judicial Protection) demonstration organised at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued an important advisory for passengers. In view of the security arrangements, it has been decided to keep 17 metro stations of the capital closed for passenger services from 7:30 am on July 24 till further orders. In such a situation, passengers have been advised to know their route before traveling and use alternative means.

Which metro stations will remain closed?

According to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation i.e. DMRC, due to security reasons, movement of passengers has been banned at some stations.

These stations will remain closed for the time being: 

Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhamba Road, Supreme Court, Seva Tirtha, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, Shivaji Stadium and Jhandewalan. DMRC has said that these stations will be reopened as soon as the situation becomes normal. Till then, passengers are requested to plan their journey in advance and use other nearby stations.

Will the interchange facility continue?

However, despite the stations being closed, line-changing facilities will be available at some major interchange stations. Commuters will be able to use the metro only for interchange at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat stations. Entry and exit will not be allowed at these stations.

What advice has been given to passengers?

DMRC has appealed to the passengers to check their metro route information before leaving home. In areas where metro services will be affected, bus, auto, taxi or other public transport can be used to travel there. Apart from this, it is also advised to keep an eye on DMRC's official website, mobile app or social media handles for any new updates before travelling.

What did the Supreme Court say about the closure of the metro station?

The closure of metro stations has also affected the lawyers and parties coming to the Supreme Court. On this issue, the Chief Justice (CJI) said on Thursday that if the situation is not resolved soon, the court may consider intervening in the matter.

What relief has the court given to the lawyers?

The Chief Justice also made it clear that no adverse order will be passed in the cases of lawyers whose absence will result in metro services being affected. At the same time, Supreme Court Bar Association President Vikas Singh said that he has not received information about any new decision in this regard and at present the affected metro stations are closed.
