New Delhi: The weather gave some relief in Delhi and NCR today. Due to the winds blowing from the northwest direction, the dense fog on Monday cleared to some extent. Due to this, visibility improved in the morning, and the situation appeared clearer than before in many areas of Delhi as well as Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram.

How much improvement was recorded in AQI?

On Tuesday, Delhi's air quality index was 381, which falls in the 'very poor' category. A day ago the air quality had reached the 'severe' level. However, despite improvements, pollution still remained severe at about eight monitoring stations in the city. Earlier on Sunday, AQI had reached 461, which was considered the worst level this winter.

Is the impact on flights over?

Despite improvement in air and visibility, air passengers have not gotten complete relief. Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport said that flight operations are gradually returning to normal, but there is still a possibility of delay or cancellation of some flights. Passengers have been advised to contact the airline for information related to their flight.

What steps did the airlines take for the passengers?

Air India has said that it has already canceled some flights as a precaution. Also, the 'Fog Care' facility has been started, under which the affected passengers are being given the option to change the ticket or take a full refund without any extra charges.

How was the situation at the airport on Monday?

On Monday, there was a lot of chaos at Delhi Airport due to dense fog and poisonous mist. About 228 flights had to be canceled, and some planes were sent to other cities. Many passengers had to wait for their luggage and flights for hours.

How is the effect of fog visible in road accidents?

The effect of poor visibility was also visible on the roads. Many vehicles collided with each other due to dense fog on Yamuna Expressway in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday night. Seven buses and three cars were involved in this accident. Four people died in the fire, while more than 25 people were injured. According to the police, the fire has been brought under control, but the incident again highlighted the danger of fog.
