Delhi: The blast that took place in the country's capital, Delhi, at around 7 pm on Monday evening shook the entire country. 13 people lost their lives, and many were injured in this explosion. As the investigation progressed, the face of this attack came to light—Dr. Omar Mohammad, a resident of Pulwama, Jammu, and Kashmir. He was driving the car in the blast, and he also died on the spot.
Initial investigation by investigating agencies found that the blast was not part of any sudden plan. Omar and his module were preparing for this attack for the last two years. The police had detained Umar's mother and brother. During interrogation, his mother admitted that she knew that Umar had moved towards radicalism. He did not talk to his family for several days, and before the blast, he had clearly said that he should not be contacted. Surprisingly, the family never informed the police about this before.
After the blast near the Red Fort, investigative agencies conducted raids across the country. It was revealed that Umar was associated with a module of Jaish-e-Mohammed. This module had already been cracked down on, and 2,900 kg of explosives had been recovered during the arrest of several members. On the day of the blast, Omar took a car filled with explosives to Delhi and carried out the blast.
As the investigation intensified, the security forces took strict action. Omar's house in Pulwama was demolished on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. Agencies say that any structure used or linked to terrorist activities will not be spared.
Police and security agencies are now busy searching for and interrogating all of Omar's associates. His focus is on two main questions—
